Climbing
Borrowdale has a superb range of routes, from easy scrambles to modern test pieces. Shepherd's Crag is a pleasant 20 minute walk from the hostel. The Brown Slab area is justly popular with beginners. The Shepherd's Café (High Lodore Farm) is a great place for refreshments after battling up Little Chamonix. Troutdale Pinnacle on Black Crag is the stand-out route of the valley. If you prefer the high mountain crags, Gillercombe Buttress and The Great Napes are easily reached from the head of the valley.
Please get in touch with us for up-to-date recommendations of climbing instructors.
